Ayurveda Meets Western Sensibilities
Ayurveda is a traditional Indian approach to health and wellness, and quite possibly the oldest healing science ever. Ayurveda has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years as an alternative system of medicine. The word itself is a combination of Ayur, “Life”, and Veda, “Science” or “Knowledge”. At its most basic, Ayurveda encourages a balance of mind, body and consciousness through diet, drink, lifestyle and herbal remedies. The primary goal of Ayurvedic medicine is disease prevention.
Root & Sky founder Serafina Rayner experienced the benefits of Ayurveda firsthand. With a true entrepreneurial spirit, she has created products that streamline the preparation of Ayurvedic treatments.
“I love Ayurveda, but I didn’t love oil stained towels and pajamas from traditional Ayurvedic herbal oils used in massage. I wanted to create a product that fit into our western lifestyles, but still packed a healing punch.” - Serafina Rayner
A better way forward
Serafina is a certified massage therapist and Yoga teacher, as well as an environmental science consultant. She is passionate about health and wellness, and the Liquid Ember products she creates are products she uses herself every day. Her desire to compassionately share her knowledge and experience with those of us living a more frantic and stressed existence is evident throughout her writing.
“When we are constantly reaching for more, are we able to actually assimilate and savor what’s happening now?” – Lovin’ Life, Root & Sky
Labeled products are of course the focus of this post, but we encourage you to explore the Root & Sky website to experience Serafina’s sincere and intriguing less-is-more approach to finding your healthy balance of mind, body and consciousness.
Designing The Labels
Serafina went through several series of design concepts before settling on the final design for Root & Sky. She wanted something whimsical, yet organized in a way that was easy for customers to read and find information, especially since Ayurveda is still new to many people. She created a color scheme and researched the packaging design of a variety of different products to discover what components she liked best and why. The end result is beautifully labeled products that do not sacrifice functionality.Root & Sky products can be purchased through their website.
