Oct 17, 2019 09:00 AM

Finding a Compatible Label Packaging Partner

Jul 17, 2014 07:00 AM

Print Brokers and Contract Packaging companies (co-packers) are facing increased demand from brand owners to become true turnkey, one stop shops.

Brand managers are looking for a co-packer that can facilitate all their filling and packaging needs, to act as a single point of contact. This does not necessarily mean the co-packer must invest in every service under the sun, though, when the same services can be offered through close relationships with partner companies.

In the same way, brokers are frequently called upon to make referrals to packaging suppliers and fulfillment companies to round out their print offerings.

Apr 01, 2014 11:30 PM

When should you order your labels, and what preparations need to be made before you do? All too often, packaging is an afterthought. With containers, closures, and labels all needing to work together, you should always plan ahead.

As you take a million little steps leading to your final launch, remember to include label packaging in the early-to-mid planning stages of your product development cycle.

"Fortune favors the prepared mind." - Louis Pasteur

4 Buzzwords to Bypass on Your Label Packaging

Mar 20, 2014 08:01 PM

Nothing kills a good word or phrase like overuse.

The words on this list are not inherently bad, but they have been hijacked by big business and completely diluted by years of cynical marketing. Even though they may perfectly describe your products, your products do not exist in a vacuum. And depending on your market or channel, you may inadvertently harm your brand by displaying these words prominently on your labels.

Realities of "Cruelty-Free" Labels

Feb 28, 2014 06:00 AM

The Leaping Bunny Tells All

Look in your medicine cabinet, your shower, and your make up case - how many of your personal care products have a little leaping bunny logo on the label? That bunny signifies that the product is truly cruelty-free. This particular bunny came about because in the late 90s ‘cruelty-free’ products had become popular, but there were no standards about what cruelty-free meant. Companies were using the phrase at will by including “cruelty-free,” “not tested on animals,” or unofficial bunny logos on their labels. However, such labeling can encompass a variety of definitions. To this day, a product labeled cruelty-free is not necessarily 100% cruelty-free.

Packettes Are Perfect for Beauty & Personal Care Products

Feb 13, 2014 10:30 PM

Everyone likes free stuff, and when given the option most consumers are happy to “try before they buy”. Product sampling is crucial for health & beauty and personal care products. When it comes to your unique products there’s no stronger purchase motivator than a positive experience with your formulations. Even if your product is superior to your competitors, consumers will still wonder how it smells, how it feels, and how well it works. Our clients often have a strong belief that if a potential customer would just give their product a chance, just try it once, they would understand how much better it is than the hundreds of others crowding the retail shelf.

Top Tips: Preparing Your Cosmetic Label for Print

Feb 11, 2014 03:40 AM

Label Policy vs. Label Appeal

When it comes to the design of your cosmetic label, you’ll want to create something that effectively represents your brand and leaves a memorable impression on consumers in the marketplace. However, you need to keep in mind that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulates the proper labeling of cosmetics. Cosmetics marketed in the U.S. must adhere to the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FP&L Act). Cosmetic labels are used to define the product’s intended purpose, list ingredients and quantities, spell out warnings, and state the place of manufacture or distribution; and, they must do all of this while inspiring consumers to pick your product off the shelf.

Content Overload? Booklet Labels Are The Solution

Nov 19, 2013 02:41 AM

ECL, Booklet Labels

Extended Content Booklet Labels

Those words may not mean anything to you right now, but chances are you've seen an extend content booklet label (ECL) or multi-layered labels in the wild. If you have ever peeled an accordion folded piece of paper off a product to reveal more information, you have encountered an ECL. These multi-folded, leaflet type labels have been used for many years with great success to expand the printable space of a label. For products in small containers or products that require a lot of regulatory or legal information, instructions, disclaimers, or multiple language translations, ECLs can be a lifesaver.

Ayurveda Meets Western Sensibilities

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian approach to health and wellness, and quite possibly the oldest healing science ever. Ayurveda has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years as an alternative system of medicine. The word itself is a combination of Ayur, “Life”, and Veda, “Science” or “Knowledge”. At its most basic, Ayurveda encourages a balance of mind, body and consciousness through diet, drink, lifestyle and herbal remedies. The primary goal of Ayurvedic medicine is disease prevention.
